Bugs are everywhere. There are 900,000 different species of insects known today. It is estimated that there are even more than 900 thousand that are unknown to us. It's also estimated that at any given time there are 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 individual insects alive. That's right TEN QUINTILLION!! Yikes!! Some bugs, like mosquitoes and ticks, appear to serve no purpose (except to annoy us). There are other bugs like bees that we depend on to pollinate our crops and without them we would cease to exist.
Each of these adorable little critters started life in a much different role. Some were vases, some were parts of a lamp, some were old bottles, and the list goes on and on. They all out lived their original purpose. The artist has created his version of all the "good" bugs as well as some of the annoying ones as well. It is always fun to watch people try to figure out what each of the different components were originally. Each bug is given a name and seems to take on a personality of it's own. As with all of the pieces from The Copper Cricket, each is assembled with "lead-free" solder. Whether it is a Spider, Love Bug, Cricket, Horsefly, Mosquito, Mulligan , or just a plain old Bug, they make awesome gifts and brighten any home, garden, or office.
